While choosing the fabric for school uniforms, we have to be more careful as it shouldn’t be fancy, flamboyant and slippery. We should see that the students in school uniforms appear elegant and at the same time simple. The material should be chosen according to the seasons, the fabrics should be something which suits the seasons. If a school is located in an area where it has cold climate, then definitely the fabric that is used in these areas have to be different from what is being used in hot areas.
Of course, cotton is the cheapest and the best fabric for hot weather and most of the schools have a tinge of cotton mixed in the school uniforms. Usually, the girl's skirts and boy's shirt are made of cotton as most of the time, it suits the students. But that doesn’t mean that you don’t find a blend of polyester or wool in the uniform. Wherever you find schools in cold areas, we find students in wool, flannel, corduroy and terelyn. Sometimes, even jackets are part of school uniforms especially among students who belong to cold regions. What ever be the type of uniforms chosen, it is better if the parents also have a say in this matter as they are also a part of the school committee.
